I love books for their ability to bring us close to the things we need or hope for. In reaching for a book, we can find adventure, knowledge, empathy, direction, and so much more.
As a child, I loved imagining changing storylines in wordless picture books or journeying again and again with Max to his island of Wild Things. Books may bring us near or far, but they have a special way of making us always feel at home.
For this reason, I especially wanted to participate in the worldwide SCBWI BOOKS FOR READERS Book Drive. The SCBWI is collecting and curating books from its members to benefit the Refugee Dream Center in Providence, Rhode Island and Kinship House in Portland, Oregon.
I recently mailed two copies of my book, To Daddy, From Mac, to be included as part of the book drive :) If you have time, please follow the links to learn more about the loving work being done by both the Refugee Dream Center and Kinship House.
